Youth and Yearlings
Youth and Yearlings is an event in WA State which partners youth 18 and under with a yearling mustang for 3 months. Youth will gentle and train their mustang, then participate at the YAY show in both Fitting & Showing and an In Hand Obstacle Course. |
Youth and Yearlings Contest
July 25 marked the first ever Youth & Yearlings event, and did we ever have fun! Eight yearlings and seven handlers were ready to strut their stuff Saturday morning, with Brittany Harrison and Tony coming out on top in the Fitting And Showing class. Congratulations, Brittany, you did a lovely job!

Youth and Yearlings Contest
After a few classes in the open youth show, it was time for the yearlings to come back out and participate in the In Hand Trail class, where they were required to cross over poles, load into a trailer, and pick up all four feet among other things. It was amazing to see how many of these babies were willing to climb right into a trailer they'd never seen before. But coming out on top was Trey McCaige and his gelding, Pollax. |
